When we first stepped into the world of running, we had no clue what we were doing.
We came from the swimming and water polo world—where running was just cross-training, not a calling.
We were just parents… packing snacks, cheering from the fence, and hoping our effort was enough.
Then came a race we’ll never forget.
It was October 2021—League Finals. Our 15-year-old sophomore son, Justus, gave everything he had…
but crossed the line last—depleted, demoralized, and under-fueled.
The car ride home was silent.
Then, from the back seat, he looked up and said with quiet conviction:
“I will become a champion—whatever it takes.”
That moment changed everything.
We didn’t start as runners.
We started as parents—trying to help a kid chase a dream we didn’t yet understand.
So we went all in: studying nutrition, hiring coaches, learning recovery, altitude, mindset… the whole nine yards.
Somewhere along the way, we realized this wasn’t just his race—it was ours too.
So we did what every parent eventually does when they care enough to grow:
we joined the journey.
We even started an altitude camp in Flagstaff.
And slowly, we began to see something shift—not just in him, but in us, and in every runner we encouraged along the way.
That’s when we discovered what we now call Victory In Every Step™...
the belief that FORWARD IS A PACE,
and that progress isn’t only measured by outcomes, but by the courage to stay present in every attempt—win, lose, fail, or succeed—and to find victory in the process itself.
As we shared what we learned with other parents, something else became clear:
Every few years, as runners graduate, the parents who’ve learned the ropes cycle out—taking their wisdom with them.
And the next group starts over… (many times) repeating the same mistakes.
We decided to change that.
RunnerParent was born to end the cycle—to unite parents, preserve hard-won wisdom,
and empower the next generation to lead with belief instead of burnout.
Because this isn’t just about our kids—
it’s about ALL of our runners.
Every team. Every season. Every story worth believing in.
Like Roger Bannister breaking the 4-Minute Mile in 1954,
we believe ONE breakthrough can unlock hundreds more.
When belief breaks through, it changes everything.
This is our 4-Minute Mile Moment.
Together, RunnerParents are becoming the heartbeat of the running world—
helping rewrite the story for runners, coaches, and families everywhere—
where purpose replaces pressure, and belief fuels every step.
One step. One victory. One story at a time.
Join the movement behind every runner’s breakthrough.
